Learning from achievers
In 1903, Rev. Father Johan E. Traber, pastor of the Catholic Parish of Bichelsee in Switzerland, saw the poverty of his community. He took the initiative and inspired his parishioners and the community to launch a bank that would become the first cooperative bank in the world, the Raiffeisen Bank. Today, this bank is among the largest retail banks in Switzerland and offers employment to more than 6,000 people around the world.

EXTRACT OF B. NYEMBO'S STATEMENT AT THE UNECE MEETING OF EXPERTS FROM MARCH 30–APRIL 1, 2016 AT THE PALAIS DES NATIONS IN GENEVA ABOUT INNOVATION (Visit the Miscellaneous template.)
We add value to the banking industry with a series of ramifications for the economy:
• Lessening immigration and its ill effects,
• Establish a bridge between the public and private sectors for effective partnering with women's associations, the diaspora, NGOs, churches, and stakeholders.
• Increasing wealth through the facilitation of the export of goods and services.
• Making credit instruments more accessible to entrepreneurs who invest in food security, sanitation, the environment, green energy, clean water, infrastructure, education, and tourism.
